Archanes

Archanes is the seat town of the Municipality of Archanes, located 15km south of Heraclio and is characterized by great agricultural, cultural and touristic development. La 3e édition de la journée crétoise a été un gros succès. Organisée par la municipalité à l’initiative de Claudine et Michel Florentin, avec la collaboration de Yannis Assargiotakis, pur crétois, venu avec son épouse Géraldine, Nicos, le cuisinier, qui a réalisé tous les plats de l’entrée au dessert, Giorgos, Vangélis et Vassilis pour la logistique.

In the morning or the afternoon of the Eve of 'Ta Fota' (i.e. 5th January), village priests do the rounds of village homes to sprinkle holy water and bless the houses and all those who live there - called the "ayiasmos" .
