La salade grecque: un délice d’été!

Un très bon ami de The Best Car Rentals m’a demande la recette de la fameuse salade grecque (choriatiki salata, cad salade rustique).

Les caractéristiques de cette salade composée, qui la rendent mondialement connue:

Le 25 mars: un jour véritablement grec

Le 25 mars pour les Grecs (vivant en Grèce et dans le monde entier) est un jour férié (en Grèce) ou l’on célèbre la commémoration de la Guerre d’Independence grecque contre l’empire ottoman en 1821. C’est le jour ou l’archevêque de Patras Germanos proclama la Guerre de Libération Nationale.

25th March: A really Greek Orthodox Day.

March 25 is a dual national and religious holiday in Greece. Greeks celebrate the anniversary of the War of Independence against the Turks in 1821. On March 25, 1821 after almost 400 years of occupation and oppression the bishop of Patras Germanos, raised the Greek flag, shouted “eleftheria h thanatos”  (Freedom or Death) and the Greek Revolution began.  During this hard period of four centuries Greeks strived hard to maintain their language, their religion and their identity.
